Handling Long Guns

The revolutionary GunBearer® is a simple, efficient way to securely carry your long gun, transferring the weight comfortably to your hips leaving both your hands free for climbing, bushwhacking, whatever. No more rifle slings slipping off your shoulder, no more banged scopes. This is the safest, most comfortable way ever devised to carry your rifle and a backpack. With a flick of your wrist, your rifle or shotgun can be instantly shouldered for firing. Fully adjustable for any length rifle or shotgun, use it right or left handed, or remove it when you aren’t packing a long gun.

The Kifaru GunBearers®

Fits any Kifaru pack system (Kifaru packs only)
Offered as: GunBearer Right-Hand Carry and Left-Hand Carry

Originally invented for rambling in bear country, this is the safest, most comfortable way ever devised to carry your rifle and a backpack. Quicker than a shoulder sling, it’s fast enough for wing shooting. While many rifle slings function well for MOUT and CQB work, ours excel in rough terrain such as mountains and desert, where you need your hands free for bushwhacking or handling other equipment while still having quick access to your rifle for instant firing. The weight of the firearm rests on your waistbelt to keep your upper body from fatiguing.

Weight: 4.2oz
– Fits Kifaru pack belts only
– Forearm (Upper) strap: used to secure your rifle with optics (install on the lower metal 3-bar slider only). Offer for Right or Left-Handed individuals.
– Cradle Mount – Used to attach cradle to the PALS webbing of the waistbelt.
– Black Hypalon cradle with height adjustable black Nylon web lower strap

Universal GunBearers®
Fit any Non-Kifaru pack you may own (including MOLLE and non-MOLLE waistbelts).

– Long Universal Waistbelt Wrap for padded and wide belts (30.5″ belt strap): Includes one universal shoulder strap wrap (upper), one hypalon cradle, and one long waistbelt wrap
– Short Universal Waistbelt Wrap for small web type belts (16″ belt strap): Includes one universal shoulder strap wrap (upper), one hypalon cradle, and one short waistbelt wrap
Universal Gunbearer Combo: Includes one universal shoulder strap wrap (upper), one hypalon cradle, one long waistbelt wrap, and one short waistbelt wrap
– The universal shoulder strap (upper) wraps around the shoulder strap to secure your rifle with optics. Universal for Right- or Left-Handed Individuals. For non-Kifaru packs, the universal is necessary because most Non-Kifaru systems do not contain the correct upper connection.
– Black Hypalon cradle with height adjustable black Nylon web lower strap

Nomad 2 Gun Cradle

-Fits only the Kifaru Nomad 1 and Nomad 2 packs (legacy)
– 25″ adjustable cradle
– Upper strap hooks into the Nomad Molle panel between the wings to secure your rifle with optics for transport

I can't believe it has taken so long for someone to come up with an alternative to a sling. This hands free carry system is great. Sometimes you can feel the extra weight on that side, but adjusting shoulder straps where they are uneven but help weight distribute better works. Love hiking without the hassle of adjusting a shoulder strap, and I think I can get my rifle to shooting position faster than with a sling.

Originally purchased this Kifaru Gun Bearer mid September for a November elk hunt in CO. 2022 Worried about arrival time I called to check on the order & delivery date and Cust svc was concerned due to high numbers of orders they could not guarantee delivery before my hunt. They assured me it would arrive in time or a full refund would be issued. It arrived plenty early for me to get fitted and adjusted before my trip. I set this up and did plenty of walking and fitting before this trip. It was a really easy process spend the time getting to know it or any other gear you plan on living with and depending on for such trips like this. I Hiked over 46 miles with this carrying a 9lb 14ounce 26” barreled magnum rifle. Couldn’t imagine using anything but this to carry my rifle. It’s right there ready to go & never once felt as if it was in my way or weighting me down on my strong side. Although I never was able to test out the quick release latch to shoulder for a real shot. It is easy to open and close the latch. Once you determine the best adjustments on your belt & shoulder strap for your particular combo it’s easy to mount and dismount your pack/rifle which I did plenty in the 3 weeks spent in the mountains. I had a really annoying squeak develop between the barrel of the rifle about 25 miles into this Gun Bearer trial period. Where the shoulder strap and rifle barrel met. I squirted a little wind detection talcum powder on the strap/barrel and worked it in a bit and squeak was gone. Reapplied as necessary. Not a deal breaker at all. This particular setup required the barrel to be strapped not the forend stock of the rifle. Upon receiving this product review I called customer svc & spoke with I think her name was Betsy/Betty who immediately discussed with the owner/creator about any other reported issues or if he was aware of such issue. None noted she promptly called me back and asked if I wanted a new strap sent out. Although amazed at her response I declined as it was not a big deal with the powder applied. Want customer svc you got it here with Kifaru. Period. Metal on rubber is going to result in friction/vibration. Very pleased they wanted to satisfy my concern. Also. If you think you’re going to take this to the trail and then decide how to set up? Be prepared to put on and take off a few times to adjust the belt/gun butt strap and is very noisy hook & loop style strap. Once set up and tested thoroughly you should not have any noise issues as I did not once in over 46 miles. I have used this with 2 different rifles and packs and won’t hunt without it again. If you want to carry a rifle on your side and any sort of backpack this is the best idea out there. Whether it’s to the tree stand or through the mountains or anywhere in between. I strongly recommend you look into this Gun Bearer set up. You won’t be disappointed. Should I ever upgrade my packs I will not hesitate to order all from Kifaru International Chris

Used for the first time this year. I like how easy it is to attach and remove my rifle. Best part is that it distributes the weight better by having the rifle in front of you, instead of strapped to the back of the pack. Also, nice to see the muzzle and scope and not worry about banging into limbs as you hike.

It took a minute to get using it correctly, but once I did it worked great. Even with a bull on my back it worked great.

This is one I wasn’t sure about. Once I threw this on my pack there was no going back. Keeps the weight right over your legs and when you bend down it doesn’t get caught on branches and trees. Quick and easy to shoulder your firearm. Everyone that I hunt with now has one and all love them. The only down fall is it takes a little time to put it in and can squeak a bit.

Great Product! Is a must have. Makes it so simple and easy to carry your rifle. Bought ones for both my sons. Able to walk and move while keeping your hands free. Even when packing out! Take the time to position and adjust it for your rifle to make it an even better fit. Keeps your rifle from twisting for the most part, great quick release, but be sure to check it before you’re in the field.

This carry system is a game-changer for me. It’s a very secure carry and a quick release. No more shoulder strain and my hands are freed up for pushing through brush, glassing, etc. Tried it out Spring goose hunting last weekend with my shotgun - loved it. It works with every rifle and shotgun I own.

For anyone that has struggled with the typical old school over-the-shoulder gun sling.....this is the answer to all the problems. Lightweight, well built, easy to use, gun slides out like butter and works as designed. Allows you to pack gun, protect scope and have both hands free. This is super nice when packing meat, glassing and using trekking poles while still being able to deploy gun in a second! One of my favorite things about my pack and Hunting system Blacktail buck killed using this sling, came around the corner of a hill and there he was at 50 yards onto me. No way using any other sling could I have made such a smooth transition to shouldering my rifle... big reason I killed this buck.

  3. Works great! My wife and I both use it for hiking in the mountains. You can get at your gun quick if you stumble on something. I even use it Turkey hunting just to keep my hands free when sneaking around!
