Our new Urban Zippy is Kifaru’s first entry into the Urban/EDC market. It is based on our tactical Zippy, but with the features desired for urban/every day carry use. The Urban Zippy has a clean, discreet look with no PALS webbing. We have added bottle pockets on the side doors for water bottles and other items. The compression straps are center adjust and removable, just like on our Xray pack. It comes with a 4 point matrix on the front for our Lock n Load pockets, along with a bungee for cinching down gear that you need to access quickly. The mesh pockets on the interior of the side doors are now dimensional to allow even more storage space. The bladder pocket will easily hold a 15″ laptop in a padded case. With the sleek, contoured pocket on the top lid, mesh pockets under the top lid and on the inside of the side doors, and the water bottle pockets, you have lots of organization for your gear. Add our Organizer pocket or one of our Belt pouches to the front, and you have what we consider the ultimate every day carry pack.

Bought this pack with the framesheet because I was flying Spirit and their limit for an individual item is 18 inches. This is one of the few packs that meet this standard. Soon replaced my EDC Eberlystock Little Trick with it. As I began to use it I wished I had bought it 50 years ago when I was a young Army Engineer. The side opening allows for easy access to the pack without having to put it into the swamp. Never having to put it down (or even take it off completely, just remove one strap and swing to the front) is a great feature when the ground is wet, dirty or snow. Works well with rocks up to 35 pounds or so. As good at load carrying as a pack without a belt can be. As a geologist it is an outstanding small day pack. One of the few things it misses is the ability to carry admin supplies in the top pocket. A built in system would be great, but even better would be lock and load tabs or PALS in the top pocket with something like the organizer pocket without zippers. It would hold everything in place but only require opening the pocket to use.
Also works fine with an E&E on the back if you need more load capacity or for flying (keep the stuff you want on the flight in the E&E and undock for flight, dock it and have only one unit for walking through the airport).
