Patrick Smith

Patrick Smith is the visionary founder behind the popular pack brand Mountainsmith, which he established and later sold in the 1990s. His expertise in outdoor gear design laid the foundation for his continued success with Kifaru, where he focuses on creating top-tier backpacks for serious hunters.

ARON SNYDER JOINS THE TEAM

When Aron Snyder joined Kifaru, he was mentored by founder Patrick Smith, and quickly became a key player in the brand’s success.

With a wealth of knowledge on backcountry hunting, Aron took it upon himself to share his expertise, leading to the creation of Kifarucast, a leading podcast on hunting and outdoor gear.

Aron Snyder and Chad Shumway Purchase Kifaru

Aron Snyder and Chad Shumway, both deeply connected to Kifaru, purchased the company from its founder, Patrick Smith.

Aron, having been mentored by Patrick and instrumental in the brand’s success, partnered with Chad, a long-time customer, fan, and dear friend.

Chad’s admiration for Kifaru’s quality and ethos made him a natural fit for the role, and together with Aron, they set out to continue the legacy of producing top-tier backcountry gear. Aron Snyder and Chad Shumway made the strategic decision to move Kifaru from Colorado to Wyoming, a state that better aligns with the rugged, independent spirit of the brand.

This move allowed them to expand in-house production, ensuring even greater control over the quality and craftsmanship that Kifaru is known for. Wyoming’s vast wilderness and strong hunting culture resonate deeply with Kifaru’s core values, making it the perfect home for the company’s next chapter.
