Slick Bag 0°

Like the energizer bunny, this blanket just keeps on going. I have had this slick bag for over 10 years. In the backcountry week after week and it has never failed me. This past year a bad storm came in and it snowed sleeted and rain for 12 hours. The slick bag was wet. My hammock was wet and I didn’t get cold until I got out of my slick bag. Even though it was wet. Definitely dangerous conditions and I was fine. The next day while I was out hunting, a bear came into camp and tore the slick bag and a few spots. Customer service was amazing and repaired the bag for a little to no cost.

I have the 20° wide, and I plan to get the 0° wide. My wife gets cold easier than I do, and at 20° it’s not warm enough for her, but it is for me. Everybody’s temp rating is different, so if you tend to run a little cooler get the 0° bag. If you want to save a few bucks, get the 20° bag and leave your hunting clothes on.

Spent three months in northern Norway during January- March. Temps averaging between 0 and 25 F. I would go from freezing cold with frozen feet to fast asleep and toasty warm wearing nothing but a base layer in my bag within a few minutes. Only downside is in the three months I used it, it ripped twice. Once was my own fault getting it caught in the bivy zipper. The second rip is in the foot box along a seam. Don't know how that hole opened up so maybe pack some gear tape. Might be worth mentioning that this is written based off of military use so consortium were never favorable and this bag still performed.

I have to use a long wide sleeping bag, and this one isn't the lightest weight on the market, but the trade offs are exceptional comfort, durability, dependability, design, and moisture management. Last year I got soaked more days than one, and going to bed with wet pants and waking up with them dry was impressive. I also have kicked my feet out from under the tarp more than twice and stayed warm even with a wet bag. I really don't think you can get a better hunting/back country backpacking bag when you're possibly facing wet weather.

Finally got to use my slick 0 bag on a 10 day North Brooks Range Caribou hunt. I like how light weight the bag is but I'm not sure about the 0 degree rating. It was in the mid 30's and I definitely wasn't hot in this bag. It was weird my body would be warm but my feet were freezing all the time. I tried wearing socks or no socks and it didn't matter. Had my feet stayed warm I would definitely give it a better rating. Seems to be well made and I like the fact it's made in the USA.

For years I suffered through the nights with a cheap sleeping bag, either being cold or squished. I got the wide/long slick 0 bag I finally was able to sleep like a baby. I use it primarily for horseback hunting or truck camping. I love the top zipper instead of the usual side zipper!
