Muskeg

Due to increasing requests for water proof backpacks we have developed the Muskeg Line. Kifaru utilizied a laminate fabric known as X-Pac that provides more waterproofness compared to the DWR treated 500d Cordura used in the rest of our line. The Muskeg packs are “do it all bags” that come in three different sizes. The bag has a fold over top lid, with waterproof vertical zip side access offset from the center of the bag. The exterior sides the pack have slender pockets to support a tripod or trekking poles. The front of the bag can accept two belt pouches or a spotting scope pocket, along with a covered sleeve pocket for flatter pieces of gear. All three bags come with a meat shelf and a water bladder sleeve. The 2800ci has a zippered pocket on the fold over lid while the 5000ci and 7000ci have a belt pouch matrix.

Care:
Dimension-Polyant fabrics are incredibly strong and tough but they do take special cleaning care.
– DO NOT machine wash or machine dry. This will severely affect the material properties, and may cause delamination.
– Do not use bleach, solvents or other harsh chemicals
– Use mild soap and water to wash
– Rub with a soft cloth or sponge
– Rinse with fresh water
– Hang to dry

I bought this bag because I live on Vancouver island BC, As we have rain 75% of the year. I can speak to the waterproof abilities, I hiked in pouring rain, drove back home with this in the back of truck. No issues with water getting in. Only thing hunting late season the bag was stiff and made some crinkle noises in -4 Celsius. Also side pockets are very thin when bag is full. Big enough for tripod legs, sawtooth poles, walking sticks. The bag is big and simple, Excellent quality. If I was going to have one pack I would pick the muskeg, because of my environment. I would suggest getting a lid to completely cover the top of bag. Folding over does work, extra coverage wouldn’t hurt.

Versitile pack that compresses for day pack mode and expands for anything you need. The ability to access from the top and side, the waterproof xpac material and zippers add to the versitility.

Been through a season of Colorado elk hunting and 60+ miles of hiking. Never missed a beat.

Great pack, great customer service, all around great company!

Such a battle wagon! I have used it for 8 day hunts with ease. Last year I put two full elk quarters on the bone in a 5000 ci and it didn’t even spit. Great pack and great company.

Just finished a winter over nighter with a 5000 and this pack bag kept everything dry while walking in rain for hours. I’ve had packs made out of x-pac before and the Muskeg performed as well as any other. Great pack! I own two, a 2800 and now a 5000. Once again, Kifaru does not disappoint.

Purchased 2 of these bags with the understanding that they were waterproof. They are not waterproof, not even close. I own many Kifaru packs & accessories, I have never been dissatisfied with anything I have purchased prior to these bags. I see other reviews commenting that they are waterproof… not sure how my experience can be so much different than theirs.
