I purchased this pack in May of 2007 when I was 2 weeks into my first deployment with the Army. I used it as an assault pack since my issued one fell apart quickly. It carried a lot of weight as I was a saw-gunner for the first half of the deployment and then a rifleman. This pack is incredibly tough and rugged. It rode on my back through that 15 month deployment to the Korengal Valley of Afghanistan and then through another 12 month deployment all over Afghanistan again. I’ve used it for everything from when I was a civilian contractor in Kabul to a week long Outward Bound Veteran whitewater rafting/camping trip and as a regular EDC bag on trips to Disney with the fam. I have had zero issues with the X-ray. It is by far the most durable and dependable pack I have ever owned. The quality, durability and reliability match the price and makes it well worth the purchase. I wouldn’t be surprised if I am able to hand this bag down to my kids when they are of the age to where they need it. Well done Kifaru!

I’ve used this pack for 3 years, through working as a game warden and with an overseas deployment with the Army. I threw side pouches and waist belt on it. It has held up while Arcteryx and Mystery Ranch bags my co-workers spent good money on fell apart. The nifty gadgets on those other higher priced bags, although incredibly well built, comes at a cost (lower life expectancy). This bag has carried over 100 lbs of ammo and gear over hundreds of miles, it has fallen off trucks and buildings. And although it shows it’s wear, it has 10+ more years in it.

I took this as my only bag for a 3 week vacation. I had 2 small pods attached for extra space. Was the perfect carry-on. Easy access and the ability to compress down tightly made this the perfect minimalist pack. Love it!

Well constructed, versatile. It can be configured multiple different ways with pockets and gear with a little thinking. Where ever you are going and whatever you are doing this pack will get the job done. Can’t go wrong with this pack for an assault or 2 day pack.

I bought this pack years back after a hunting trip. I met a guy with a kifaru hunting pack and he raved about it. I needed a pack to use for work traveling the world in not so nice places. I made the investment in a kifaru x-ray pack with a claymore pouch, two canteen pouches and two accessory pouches. This set up allows me to carry all my essentials in a secure, neat and organized fashion. This pack has now made a lot of trips and covered a lot of miles. It has never failed in anyway.
